Studying the impact of specific bifidobacterial components on inflammatory immune responses.
I research the beneficial interaction of Bifidobacteria with cells that line the gut and immune cells with the aim of identifying specific bacterial molecules involved in this process. I have a BSc and MSc in Physiology from University College Cork in Ireland after which I obtained a MSc in Bioinformatics from the University of Manchester. I then returned to Cork to do a PhD in the School of Microbiology and APC Microbiome Institute studying host-microbe interactions; specifically looking at the role of adherent invasive E. coli in Crohn’s disease. I started in the Hall lab as a postdoctoral scientist in June 2016.
